Noosa Springs hosts GEC Open debut

GEC Open, in association with OMA Emirates global golf tour recently made its way to Down Under as the debut edition was held at the championship golf course at Noosa Springs together with annual Noosa Springs Open. The 18-hole, 6180m course designed by Graham Papworth played host to over 120 corporate bigwigs and industry leaders for the annual fixture on the Noosa Spring Calendar. Brought together by the mutual affection for golf in the company of like-minded friends, the participants vied for the podium finish and entry to the GEC Open World Final- Dubai Corporate Golf World Cup.

Competing in Stableford format, Oliver Steele from Peregian Springs returned the best score in Men’s category at 44 points. On the par 72 layout, He carded 41 strokes on the front nine and 48 on back nine. His 89 strokes and handicap of 29 earned him the winning points.

In women’s category, 11 handicapper Jo Cordner from Lonsdale club finished atop the leaderboard with 35 points. 45 strokes on front-nine and 39 on back-nine resulted in a total of 84 strokes.

The world finalists enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete under national colors and ply their craft at two world-class venues – Jumeirah Golf Estates and Emirates Golf Club. GEC Open 2018 is poised to host 54 qualifying rounds in 34 countries making it one of the biggest corporate golf tournament all around the world.
